German Colours (Farben) and Adjectives
Colori sono i primi aggettivi da imparare. La regola a questo livello è semplice: dopo il verbo un aggettivo non ha nulla, davanti a un nome ha una desinenza.

hellblau, dunkelgrün, hellgrau. In Svizzera, la lettera ß è stata abolita completamente - il tedesco svizzero utilizza weiss, gross, Strasse. Se stai imparando per Zurigo invece che Berlino, questo è un problema da tastiera che non avrai mai.
Common questions
+Colore prende un suffisso?
Only when it stands in front of the noun it describes: der rote Apfel. After the verb — Der Apfel ist rot — it never changes.
+blu chiaro o verde scuro
Stick hell or dunkel on the front as one word: hellblau, dunkelgrün, hellgrau. German compounds freely, and these are written without a space or hyphen.
+È "weiß" senza il trattino.
ß viene utilizzato dopo le vocali lunghe e i dittonghi in Germania e Austria. La Svizzera ha eliminato la lettera, quindi i testi svizzeri scrivono weiss. Entrambi sono corretti nel loro paese.
+Come posso chiedere di che colore è qualcosa?
Welche Farbe hat …? — literally "what colour does it have". German treats colour as something a thing possesses, so the verb is haben, not sein.
