Un'imperativa tedesca nuda sembra molto meno rude all'orecchio tedesco rispetto alla sua traduzione letterale in inglese. "Dammi il sale" sarebbe scortese in inglese; Gib mir bitte das Salz è del tutto normale. Il tedesco addolcisce con bitte e mal invece che con gli elaborati giri di parole che l'inglese utilizza ("potresti gentilmente..."), e tradurre questi giri di parole in tedesco ti fa sembrare evasivo invece che cortese.

+Formare il du imperativo
Take the present-tense du form and drop the -st: du kommst → Komm!, du gehst → Geh!. The pronoun disappears too.
+Vowel-changing verbs maintain their change.
Sprich!, Nimm!, Lies!. Non: fahren dà Fahr!, non Fähr!.
+Come si fa una richiesta in modo cortese?
L'uso della particella 'mal' è il modo più utile per addolcire un ordine in tedesco. 'Komm mal her, bitte' è una richiesta educata, mentre 'Komm her!' è un ordine secco.
+Usate il plurale dell'imperativo.
