Come stai? — o l'everyday Come stai? — non è il saluto vuoto che "Come stai?" è in inglese. Chiedilo a un tedesco e potresti ottenere una risposta vera, inclusa la situazione lavorativa. Viceversa, chiedere a un estraneo in un negozio potrebbe suonare stranamente intimo. Riservalo alle persone che conosci veramente.
Common questions
+What is the difference between wo, woher and wohin?
Dove è la posizione statica - Dove abiti? Da dove è l'origine - Da dove vieni? Dove è la destinazione - Dove stai andando? L'inglese usa "dove" per tutti e tre, il motivo per cui gli studenti li confondono.
+Non esiste una parola tedesca per "do" nelle domande.
Because German changes word order instead. English needs the auxiliary "do" to form questions; German simply puts the verb in the right slot, so "Where do you live?" is just Wo wohnst du?
+Come ti chiami?
Wie heißt du? informally, Wie heißen Sie? formally. Literally "how are you called" — German uses wie, not was.
+When do I use wie viel vs wie viele?
Wie viel for uncountable amounts (Wie viel kostet das?), wie viele for countable things (Wie viele Kinder hast du?). The same split as "how much" and "how many".
