German At the Hotel Vocabulary
This set covers the words you need to book a room and check in: das Doppelzimmer, die Rezeption, and die Buchung. One distinction worth noting: German splits "stay" into the verb übernachten (to stay overnight) and the noun die Übernachtung (an overnight stay), so you can't just verb-ify Aufenthalt the way English does with "stay."

How to learn this set
Notice how Doppelzimmer and Einzelzimmer both end in -zimmer, so once you know das Zimmer is neuter, you get das Doppelzimmer and das Einzelzimmer for free. Die Buchung and die Übernachtung share the -ung ending typical of nouns built from verbs (buchen, übernachten), and that ending is always feminine, no exceptions. Drill der Proviant and das Schließfach separately since they don't fit either pattern and are easy to forget in a set full of hotel-specific words.

What is the difference between die Pension and die Jugendherberge?
Die Pension is a small, often family-run guest house with private rooms, similar to a B&B. Die Jugendherberge is a youth hostel, usually with dorm-style beds and shared facilities, and cheaper than a Pension or Hotel.
What is Halbpension in a German hotel?
Halbpension means half board: your room price includes breakfast and one more meal, usually dinner. If only breakfast is included, that's called Übernachtung mit Frühstück instead.
Is Rezeption the same as reception in English?
Yes, die Rezeption is the front desk where you check in and out, and der Rezeptionist is the person working there. It's a safe cognate, no false friend trap here.
