German Months & Seasons Vocabulary
This set covers the calendar basics: all twelve months from der Januar to der Dezember, plus the four seasons der Frühling, der Sommer, der Herbst, and der Winter. The one surprise for English speakers is that every single month is masculine, no exceptions, which makes this the rare corner of German grammar where you can just memorize one gender and move on.

How to learn this set
The months are the easiest gender pattern in the whole language: der April, der Juli, der November, all der, all the time. Spend your actual effort on the four seasons instead, since they split between der (Frühling, Sommer, Herbst) and der Winter too, but die Jahreszeit itself is feminine and easy to mix up with der Sommer if you're going fast. Also drill der Monat, die Woche, and das Jahr together since they're the three time units that show up in dates and sentences like "im nächsten Monat" or "diese Woche" alongside the month names.

Frequently asked questions
Are all months masculine in German?
Yes. Every month, from der Januar to der Dezember, takes der. That's 12 words with one gender, so once you learn the pattern you never have to question it.
What is the difference between der Monat, die Woche, and das Jahr?
Der Monat is month, die Woche is week, and das Jahr is year. They're grouped here because they're the units you use to talk about months and seasons, and each one has a different gender, so learn them as a trio.
What is die Jahreszeit in German?
Die Jahreszeit means season, literally 'year-time'. It's the umbrella word for der Frühling, der Sommer, der Herbst, and der Winter.
