How to learn this set
Several nouns here are compounds built from a base word you already know: der Rasenmäher is literally "lawn mower" (Rasen + Mäher), and die Gartenarbeit is just Garten + Arbeit. Once you spot that pattern, das Gewächshaus (Gewächs = "growth/plant" + Haus) and die Feuerstelle (Feuer + Stelle) stop looking like new words and start looking like word combinations you can predict. For the verbs, drill pflanzen and gießen together with their objects: man pflanzt Blumen, man gießt den Rasen, so the verb and its typical noun partner stick as one chunk rather than two separate flashcards.

Is der Rasen the same as der Garten?
No. Der Garten is the whole garden, and der Rasen is just the lawn or grass area within it. You mow der Rasen with der Rasenmäher, but you work in der Garten in general.
What is the difference between der Zaun and die Hecke?
Der Zaun is a built fence made of wood, metal, or wire, while die Hecke is a living hedge made of planted bushes. Both can mark a boundary, and die Einfriedung is the general term covering any kind of enclosure, fence, or wall around a property.
Is die Bete the same word as das Beet?
No, and this trips people up because they sound alike. Das Beet means a garden bed you plant things in, while die Bete only appears in the word rote Bete, meaning beetroot.
