German Office Equipment Vocabulary
This set covers the stuff sitting on and around a German desk: der Drucker (printer), der Tacker (stapler), der Locher (hole punch), and der Kopierer (photocopier). One trap for English speakers is der Kuli or der Kugelschreiber for "ballpoint pen" - there's no everyday word that just means "pen" the way English uses it, and Stift is reserved for pencils and crayons in casual speech, so Germans default to Kuli. Another surprise: der Ordner means a physical binder or folder for paper, not a computer folder, which is also called Ordner but shows up in a very different context.

How to learn this set
Almost every object noun here is masculine: der Drucker, der Kugelschreiber, der Locher, der Tacker, der Kopierer, der Kuli, der Ordner, der Monitor, der Gummi. That's not a coincidence - German agent-like nouns ending in -er are reliably der, so once you learn that pattern you can guess the gender of new office words on sight. Drill drucken alongside its participle hat gedruckt and pair kopieren with der Kopierer so you see the verb-to-machine link (the thing named after what it does). For herunterfahren, notice the separable prefix herunter- (down) plus fahren (to drive/go) - literally "to drive down" a computer, which makes the meaning easier to remember than a flat translation.
