German Organisation & Planning Vocabulary
This set covers the words you need to talk about organising anything, from die Planung of a trip to the Ablauf of a meeting. It also includes eintreten, which throws off a lot of learners because it doesn't mean "prepare" the way its context might suggest, it means "to occur" or "to enter," as when a situation eintritt. Watch der Ablauf too: English has no single word for "the way a process unfolds," so this one takes some getting used to.

How to learn this set
Six of these nouns are feminine and end in -ung: die Planung, die Vorbereitung, plus two verbs you'll recognize planen and vorbereiten as their roots. Once you see that vorbereiten becomes die Vorbereitung, you can predict the gender and spelling of dozens of other -ung nouns for free. Drill the verb pairs together: organisieren/die Organisation isn't in this set but planen/die Planung and vorbereiten/die Vorbereitung are, so practice them as pairs rather than isolated words. For der Ablauf, der Bereich, and die Reihenfolge, build one sentence that uses all three, since they show up together constantly in workplace and project German.

Frequently asked questions
Ist der Zeitplan der gleiche wie die Planung?
No. Die Planung is the general activity of planning, while der Zeitplan is the concrete result: a schedule with times and dates attached to it.
Was ist der Unterschied zwischen der Ablauf und die Reihenfolge?
Der Ablauf is the whole procedure or how something runs from start to finish, like the Ablauf of a meeting. Die Reihenfolge is just the order that individual items or steps come in, without describing the process itself.
Was bedeutet Anstalten treffen?
It means to make preparations or get ready to do something, often something specific and slightly formal. It almost always appears in the fixed phrase Anstalten treffen or Anstalten machen, not as a standalone word.
