German Risk & Safety Vocabulary
This set works through how German splits up what English lumps together as "risk" and "danger": die Gefahr is the danger that exists, das Risiko is the risk you choose to take, and die Gefährdung is the act of endangering something. English speakers often use Gefahr and Risiko interchangeably by habit, but German keeps them apart, and getting that distinction right will make your sentences sound much more precise.

How to learn this set
Notice that die Bedrohung comes straight from the verb bedrohen (to threaten), and die Gefährdung works the same way as a noun built from the idea of gefährden. Drill these as pairs, verb and noun together, rather than as isolated vocabulary. Also group der Schutz, die Sicherheit, and die Rettung as your "positive" cluster, the things that counter Gefahr and Bedrohung, since German conversations about safety usually pair a threat word with a protection word in the same breath.

Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Gefahr und Risiko?
Die Gefahr is the danger itself, something that exists whether you engage with it or not, like Feuer ist eine Gefahr. Das Risiko is the chance you take by acting despite that danger, so das Risiko eingehen means to take the risk. In practice Germans use Risiko more for calculated or personal choices and Gefahr for the objective threat.
Ist Sicherheit männlich oder weiblich?
Sicherheit is feminine: die Sicherheit. Almost every noun in this set ending in -heit, -ung, or -sicht follows the same feminine pattern, so die Vorsicht and die Bedrohung fit the rule too.
